Types of Bankruptcy
Chapter 7
When most people think of bankruptcy, they think of Chapter 7. Chapter 7 is also called a liquidation bankruptcy. You keep a certain amount of property, and the rest of your property is sold by the court to pay off your debts. The advantage to this approach is that it takes care of the debt once and for all. However, it could also possibly mean parting with most of your assets.
Chapter 13
Another option is a Chapter 13 bankruptcy. With a Chapter 13, you keep all of your property and assets. The court arranges a reorganization and payment plan to take care of your debts. The payment plan usually lasts from three to five years. With a Chapter 13, you get to keep your property, but you remain liable until you complete your Chapter 13 plan. You can use a Chapter 13 to reorganize house payments, car payments, income taxes and credit cards.
Chapter 11
A Chapter 11 works the same way as a Chapter 13, except that it applies to small businesses. It is part of the services that we offer small businesses.
We can stop foreclosure. We can also stop harassing calls from collection agencies. When you contact us, we work with you to determine your best option. Call us today.
